Fane Valley Support Loughry Bursary Programme

At the recent Food Bursary Awards ceremony at Loughry Campus, seventeen food students from Loughry’s higher education degree courses were presented with the industry bursaries they have secured this academic year. 

Speaking after the event Amanda McRea – Fane Valley HR Advisor said: “Fane Valley and Linden Foods are proud to be associated with Loughry and the Industry Bursary programme. We continue to be involved each year because we are committed to investing in the next generation within the agri-food sector.  We believe the education and rich experience received at Loughry will ultimately equip them for industry and other agri-food related business.”

Fane Valley /Linden bursary student Kerrie McConnell is from Hilltown, Newry and graduated in 2016 from Greenmount with an extended Diploma in Agriculture. She is now currently studying a BSC Honours Degree in Food Technology at Loughry. Kerri comes from a farming background and has a strong interest and passion for working in the Agri Food Industry.

Higher education is often expensive for students and their families and CAFRE is delighted that the Agri-food industry is committed to supporting our young managers and leaders of the future through the provision of bursaries.

This year the sponsors that have shown their appreciation of the future talent that Loughry is developing include: ABP Food Group, Bank of Ireland, Cookstown-Karro Group, Danske Bank, Dunbia, Fane Valley/Linden Foods, First Trust Bank, Glanbia Cheese Ltd, Irish Farmers Journal, LacPatrick Co-op, Moy Park Ltd, Multi Packaging Solutions, Northern Ireland Food and Drink Association (NIFDA), Tyrone Farming Society, Ulster Bank and Willowbrook Fine Foods.  They offered bursaries, which were valued between £1,000 and £3,000, worth in the region of £23,000.
