Fane Valley Go Pink For Breast Cancer Charity
16th November 2016
Fane Valley and its Group of companies recently took part in a pink coffee morning with all proceeds going towards Action Cancer’s breast screening and therapeutic services for breast cancer survivors. Over 80 free mammograms will now be made available because of the efforts of the wider group staff and the generous donations from Fane Valley Stores customers.
Over 20 different Fane Valley sites across the province including Linden Foods and White’s Oats took part in their annual pink themed coffee morning for Action Cancer’s Paint The Town Pink campaign and in doing so, raised £6500 towards early detection breast screening and counselling sessions for survivors.
Action Cancer is the only charity in the UK and Ireland to offer breast screening to women aged 40 – 49 and 70 plus who fall outside the NHS age range (50 – 70).
Trevor Lockhart – Fane Valley Chief Executive remarked: “We are very pleased to help support Action Cancer and their breast screening services and to know that all proceeds raised throughout the Fane Valley Group will go specifically towards completing 80 local breast screenings, is very reassuring and potentially, life changing.”
Gillian Thomson, Corporate Fundraising Officer, Action Cancer: “We thank Fane Valley and its community of customers for coming onboard and supporting our Paint the Town Pink Campaign as a sponsor. It has been a fantastic month building vital awareness and raising a phenomenal amount of money towards our breast screening service. We are the only charity that provides breast screening and as a Northern Ireland charity it’s good to know that in the days and weeks to come, local women will benefit from this generous donation.”
